SHOCHU, pronounced "show-chew", is a colorless, Japanese alcohol beverage made from high starch grains and vegetables such as rice, millet, barley, buckwheat, molasses, corn, and sweet potatoes. When scripted in Chinese characters, its literal translation is "fiery spirits", which indicates SHOCHU's high level of potency as an alcohol beverage. SHOCHU is a distilled "Sake". SHOCHU is to Sake, what brandy is to wine.

IL Tramonto Limoncello owes its origins to the rosoli drinks made in the convents, where delicate liqueurs were made from fruits, spices and aromatic plants. Their secret ingredient was a lemon liqueur, beginning a long and now world wide love affair with limoncello. Connoisseurs agree that the best limoncello comes from the Amalfi Coast. The region’s unique soil leads to the finest quality lemons, which are sweet and citrusy. The lemons have very few seeds, minimizing bitterness, while the pulp is so rich with flavor that you can smell the sweetness through its skin.

The Lazzaroni family, led by Carlo Lazzaroni, moved from Valtellina to Saronno at the beginning of the 18th century, starting the artisanal production of the famous Amaretti di Saronno. The business was then continued by Carlo's offspring, brothers Paolo and Davide. The former moved to Monza in the mid-19th century, starting the production of mostarda and liqueurs. The latter, Davide, went on making the Amaretti, locating the business in Saronno in front of the cathedral, at that time served by horse transport.

Manana as an overall brand description, is a light tequila. While it packs a lot of complex flavors in its taste profile, it truly feels a bit more refined than many of the more “fuerte” brands. This Highlands tequila is aged in Jack Daniels barrels and features some nice anise on the blanco’s nose and varying degrees of heat in the different ages – with the anejo being quite a bit hotter and rougher than the reposado! The blanco brings loads of deep sugar-cook on the bottom end of the flavor spectrum while the anejo is a bit too larded up with oak. The reposado was easily the most finely balanced age of the three with a long lasting finish and a completely integrated flavor appeal. You won’t be looking for anything missing in the repo. It is true to its own light self.
